SCENES AROUND SOUTH AMERICA - SERIES #16

"The more you travel, the more you probably want to see of the rest of the world. And that is great, because having a new dream after fulfilling the previous one makes you realize that you can actually achieve everything you want. " - Anonymous

March 3-4, 20 13 - Callao & Lima, Peru (overnight)- Part 1
I will probably never finish travelling until I run out of batteries & money.  Surely,  I like to share my travel excitement on this blog. I find travelling addictive because it makes life so much more interesting!
Grand Princess docked at Callao, Peru. We concentrated our sightseeing at Lima, the fifth largest city in Latin America. And is widely considered to be one of its most beautiful & legendary "City Of Kings."  The best place to get a glimpse of Peruvian life is on the town plaza called Plaza De Armas (Plaza Mayor) at downtown main square.

A LOVELY CARRIAGE BY THE PLAZA DE ARMAS. IT"S THE COLONIAL CITY'S CHARM THAT REALLY STEALS THE SHOW. THE PRE-COLUMBIAN ARCHITECTURES & ORNATE COLONIAL BUILDINGS.

ADJOINED TO THE CATHEDRAL IS THE ARCHIBISHOPS PALACE. ORIGINALLY BUILD DURING THE 1600s. ALL STRUCTURES ARE INTRICATELY CARVED WOODEN BALCONIES THAT MAKE THE DOWNTOWN CITYSCAPE SO UNIQUE.

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE PLAZA DE ARMAS

DIFFERENT VIEW OF PLAZA AS HISTORIC CENTER W/ 500 YEARS OF HISTORY. THE SPANISH COLONIAL BUILDINGS RETAIN THEIR FADED GLORY WHILE MODERN PERUVIANS AND HORDES OF TOURISTS STROLL AROUND THE PLAZA.

To make such a trip to Peru was a dream come true. I'll never stop dreaming of traveling.  After touring Plaza De Armas, we went to Miraflores & then to the Indian Market. At night we saw a beautiful & colorful Peruvian Folklorico Show aboard the ship.

Tonight the Peruvian sky was as kaleidoscopically colorful as its folk dances & costumes. What a beautiful day & night in Lima, Peru. Stay tune for Part 2. " Buenos Noches!"
